What's Cooking!

Sorry it has been so long since I posted. Since I got back from my 6 days of vacation I've been working around the clock. Luckily the tykes seem to be okay.

I saw my doctor again today and he asked about five times - "What's cooking?" which he does every time. To be honest I'd rather have more direct questions like - any new symptoms, any concerns you are feeling, etc. Instead I have to be brave enough to plunge forward if I did have any - which usually isn't an issue but I feel like most people automatically "trust" doctors and have a hard time bringing up issues, questions or concerns. Does anyone else feel more trepidation approaching their doctor than their boss?

I remember also feeling like I wished the questions were a little less open-ended. I never knew whether to launch into the list of my pregnancy complaints and discomforts in case one or more was a red flag, or whether to just kind of let it all go. I didn't feel like I knew which things were worth mentioning.

I find that writing a list of concerns ahead of times takes some of the jitters out ... and the doc seems to like it.

There was a recent article on CNN about this: http://www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/05/14/ep.women.mistakes/index.html?iref=newssearch
