Squeak! Squeak!

Now that Mister Ned (as we often call him) naps so well on his tummy I sometimes get worried whether he's okay and want to check on him.  Under the carpet just outside the door to the nursery is a squeak zone - there is no way to avoid it.  It makes me curse the builder every time.  I told myself before I had kids that I wouldn't be one of those moms who tiptoes around avoiding noise for her kids to sleep.  Yet I find myself doing just that.  I must resist and refuse to be afraid of the squeaks!

Squeaky floors, in my opinion, are in a different category from general tip-toeing. Especially when they're RIGHT OUTSIDE the damn nursery! I hate that! I go through weird contortions to avoid the bad spots on the floor in and just outside of their room. Also helps to have nice, loud white noise in the nursery. We keep a noisy humidifier running to provide cover for ill-timed squeaks.

We use a white noise machine. Our stairs are creaky and it really helps cover the noise. I try to avoid being noisy during naptimes in general though. I think it's only respectful. I mean, if I were trying to sleep, I'd be pretty irritated if someone was downstairs making a racket.

We have a noise maker as well ... but it SO doesn't cover up those squeaky floor boards. Especially when it's the entire floor ;) It took a while but Logan eventually just got used to it - there was no way I wasn't going in to check!
