Hello, my name is Mommy, Esq. and my thirteen month twins still use bottles.
Before I went back to work I fretted quite a bit about feeding and the kids' development milestones. I make no bones about the fact that I worry significantly less now that I'm at work. When I see the kids for about 2 hours a day (tops) do I want to tie myself in knots about Penny's inability to eat a vegetable or that she has maybe taken 5 sips out a sippy cup in her entire life? And sure, Ned COULD go without his very small bedtime bottle but after wrestling our dinosaur-monster into his diaper and jammies it calms him down.
My friend Helen used to complain that Suri Cruise was 2 and there were photos of her in US Weekly with a bottle. We just hide our camera during bottle time. No evidence so if we do manage to "wean" them before college no one will ever be the wiser.

I saw a 4 year old with a bottle a few months ago. Now that was odd. 13 months or even two years? Meh. How is it any different from a pacifyer? Whatever works. That's my motto. If Penny eats more out of a bottle then keep it going!
I think you get a pass on this one! Plus they're only 13 months, not 13.
We still gave Emily one bottle a day (at nighttime) until she was about 18 months. I liked it (holding her close, etc) and so did she, so I didn't care that she was CRAZY old for a bottle. Then, at some point, we did decide she was too old, so we just gave her a sippy with dinner instead. It was fine. I agree with Stacey - no biggie. For the record, Emily is now almost 2 and she still uses a pacifier. Who cares? :) Not me!
No worries- 13 months isn't anything to be alarmed about. If it were up to my husband, my 19month old twins would still be using bottles- he thought it was cruel to take them away. I went extremely slowly- gradually built up using sippy cups during the day, still let them have a bottle at night. Tried a few different sippy designs before closing in on cups they were comfortable with. I didn't pack up the bottles completely until 17 or 18 months. By that point, they could care less :)
Big Sister had bottles until 18 months. One bottle, but a bottle no less. Not to fret - this one is definitely small stuff.
It is small stuff. :) Mine were quick to let the bottle go. 12 months, we took it, and it went fine. I think its ok though..you won't get the bad Mom of the year award or anything like that. ;)
For the record, What the heck do I know?
13 months isn't 24 months. But I think I'm actually more concerned about what is in Suri's bottle, because it's allegedly some weird Scientology concoction.
Lately I'm concerned about her wardrobe- she's been seen all over Boston wearing little high heels- I mean seriously, she's 3.
The high heels are seriously inappropriate.
With DS1 we weaned the bottle at 15 months and with DS2 we weaned at 13 months. Seriously, who cares? I think the whole deal is ridiculous and just another thing to get us tied up in knots about!
Honestly, I thought you were going to say Penny has been wearing high heels. :-P I think (from what I have read on the subject) that it becomes more difficult to wean from the bottle after 18 months. No experience in that realm though- we weaned Josh off them around 17 months and Alex (who never liked bottles anyway) weaned himself to a sippy cup around 10-11 months.
I'm 33, and I still like a bottle to calm me down.
My pedi said bottles are fine up to 18 months, FWIW. Even my mom, who took our bottles away as a first birthday present, was all, "oh, they can have them longer than a year, it's no big deal" What a softie! Not sure when we will (or will be able to) do away with the bottles. The only reason I even care is because I'm sick of cleaning nipples.
Caden continued getting a bottle until she was 15 months old. She was on formula and it was the most efficient way to get her to drink it, so I didn't worry. When we finally took it away, she didn't even notice!
