Krafty Kids

If you couldn't tell from this blog I am terrible at arts and crafts. I'm also relatively unsentimental and abhor knick knacks. Our nanny is the complete opposite (she has tons of signs with sayings (you know, "bless this mess", etc.) around her house).

For Christmas the kids made us original artwork under the loving guidance and supervision of Nanny April. Even the wrapping paper was made by the kids - old paper bags the kids rolled around on with paint. I will likely use the kid art to decorate Spyder's room.

My new favorite Ned photo. Husband thinks he has a Braveheart look about him - "...tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take OUR LOVIES!!! Monkey gu brath!!!"

Also a good warning that no matter how much fun they are having a toddler tantrum is just millisecond away!

Some Ned and Penny masterpieces would be so cute framed for Spyder's room. What a good idea!

I also suck at arts and crafts. First of all I never have any supplies on hand because I suck at them personally. And secondly I never think of it as an activity to do with Cameron. Not to mention cleaning up. I have enough trouble cleaning up her messes after she eats. Thank goodness for daycare and their arts and crafts sessions! Otherwise I'd never know if Cameron is destined to be an artist...

What a cute idea for Spyder :) Collette might do some paint smearing (and eating, of course) but I don't think Sebastian would much like that. But you never know until you try...

PS - are you all going to pick/share the baby name with us or do we have wait until she's born?

I am also uncrafty and as you can tell from my house, hate knick knacks. We are inundated with arts from school that get recycled every day. I keep special ones in the office. And of course THE TOP thing that Nate wants to do is art art art all the time.

I love it! What kind of paint did you use? I've tried making my own because Sarah eats everything. Suggestions welcome!

The Duchess loves painting and making a royal mess too - that's why I tape old newspapers or other recycling to the bathtub wall, put her in the tub in her diaper, and let her paint away with brushes and washable tempera I got from discountartsupply.com. I put the paint in clean, used yogurt containers. It is cheap and fun and the duchess loves it. She is heavily influenced by Van Gogh, although I also detect hints of Mondrian and Kandinsky.
